The stratiec approach of luxury fashion brands to counterfeit goods

This thesis examines the strategic approach of luxury fashion brands to counterfeits. The democratization of luxury fashion, the acceleration of the fashion calendar, the boom in online shopping, and last but not least the coronavirus pandemic have led to the normalization of the ownership and promotion of counterfeits. The trade in counterfeits poses a long-term risk to the economy and society. The counterfeit business can finance organised crime and its production is harmful to the planet and to workers in the supply chain. The aim of this paper is to find out how brands are dealing with this situation - what tools and strategies they are using to combat counterfeits. The theoretical introduction of the thesis explains the concept of luxury, describes the different forms of counterfeiting from a legal point of view, presents the negative and positive effects of counterfeiting, as well as recommendations on how to combat it. A qualitative method was chosen for the research, which allows to look at the topics in depth and also to explore how the topics are approached. With the help of critical discourse analysis, an answer to the question is sought: What is the current strategic approach of luxury fashion brands towards counterfeit goods? Analysis of determinants of demand for counterfeits

The theoretical part of thesis describes the theory of counterfeits and review of foreign literature. The empirical part analyzes the factors that influence the demand for counterfeits. Data for analysis are obtained by using questionnaires for two cities - Dvůr Králové nad Labem and Prague. Main determinants of demand for counterfeits are experience with counterfeits, satisfaction with them, price of counterfeits and current income. Analysis has shown, that these determinants could be applied to both cities and they are significant in almost all of the models. We can also observe a few other minor determinants that influence the demand for counterfeits.

Possibilities of automatic plagiarism detection

Tato práce se zabývá možnostmi automatické detekce plagiátů. Cílem je poskytnout relevantní informace těm, kteří uvažují o použití případně vývoji nástroje pro detekci plagiátů. V teoretické části zejména zobecňuje, na příkladech demonstruje a doplňuje informace získané z různých zdrojů zabývajících se touto problematikou. V první části stručně uvádí čtenáře do problematiky plagiátorství a současného stavu zejména ve vzdělávacích institucích a do obecných možností a omezení automatické detekce. Dále vysvětluje rozdíly mezi různými typy nástrojů pro detekci plagiátů a možnostmi jejich využití. V následující části se zabývá základními metrikami používanými v různých nástrojích. Představuje i několik zajímavých alternativních způsobů detekce. Podrobně pak popisuje princip nejpoužívanějšího způsobu detekce plagiátů v přirozeném jazyce a dále některé další přístupy včetně těch užívaných pro detekci v programovacích jazycích. Velký prostor je v praktické části věnován popisu, srovnání a testům vybraných dostupných řešení pro detekci plagiátů a to jak komerčních, tak poskytovaných zdarma. Největší důraz je přitom kladen na jejich fungování v českém jazykovém prostředí. Druhým praktickým přínosem práce je koncept návrhu systému pro detekci plagiátů a jeho začlenění do komplexního programu prevence plagiátorství.
